COVID-19 UPDATE
OCTOBER 15, 2020
Hi Church family,
There is a new update from the State of Utah concerning the Covid-19 Transmission Index. With this update, the Utah Department of Health Director, Richard Saunders, issued a Statewide Public Health Emergency that goes into effect today, 10/15/20.
The entire state will be in a period in which mandates face coverings in public gathering situations due to increasing infections. The Governor and the Public Health Department will continue to update us week by week. It is unfortunate the State needed to take these measures. It is not news we desired to hear. But with the dramatic increase in cases, it is not surprising.
Our heart as a church is to be obedient to the Lord and to scripture. Romans 13:1-2 give us clear instructions: “Let every soul be subject to governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore, whoever resists the authority resists the ordinances of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.” I Peter 2:13-17, Titus 3:1-2 and many other scriptures mirror Paul’s instructions.
As a church, we will be obedient to God’s word and comply with this statewide directive. We are thankful we can still meet in person. We are thankful we can still preach God’s word and that we can raise our voices in praise to Him! We are thankful we can livestream the services for those who can’t make it due to health issues.
My friend, please hear my heart. Satan is working overtime to divide the Church (including CCSG) and our nation. The issue of mask or no mask has become a battleground and sadly many Christians have allowed themselves to be caught up in the conflict. Please, let us here at CCSG be above the conflict!
Let’s do our part, let’s be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind let each esteem others better than himself (Philippians 2:1-4) Beloved, it’s our goal to honor God above all else. I love you all and I know this decision will not please everyone but this is what I, along with the board of elders believe will please the Lord.
We encourage all of you to be safe. If you are feeling sick, please stay home and watch the service online. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed for Covid, please go and get tested. If you have been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for Covid, please give us a call. We will have a team to help walk with you as you quarantine. Please make sure you are following the proper guidelines given to help prevent the spread of this virus. We are praying and will continue to pray for families who have loved ones battling this virus.
If you need to discuss this with me, I am more than willing to have a conversation with you. You can call the church office and set up an appointment. I will also be following up with local authorities and will keep you posted as things develop. It is the desire of my heart that all of us would keep our eyes fixed upon the Lord, He will be faithful and see us through this season. Once again, I love you all and look forward to see you this weekend as we worship the Lord.
God bless you all,
Jerry
